Our Journey
The origins of the association can be traced to our first physician member, the late Dr. Lalzaua, who completed his MD in the early 1990s. He was soon joined by senior pioneers such as Dr. Rosangluaia, Dr. Lalremthanga, Dr. Zoramthanga, and Dr. H. Lalrinmawia. Although small in number, these early physicians distinguished themselves through their dedication to clinical excellence and academic advancement. Their collective efforts led to the formation of the Association of Physicians of Mizoram (APOM) on 19 February 2000. The society was officially registered under the Firms and Societies Act, establishing its own constitution and financial structure. Over the years, young physicians actively engaged in CMEs and conferences across India, contributing to APOM’s growing recognition at both state and national levels. A significant turning point in our journey was the support of Dr. Jyotirmoy Pal, Chief Guest of MIZAPICON, whose motivation greatly influenced the establishment of the API Mizoram State Chapter. With his continued encouragement, the chapter was formally inaugurated in August 2023.
Academic Activities (CME/CPD)
The chapter conducted 9 CMEs during the 2023–2024 academic year and 4 CMEs during the 2024–2025 academic year to date. These academic programs, supported by various pharmaceutical partners, attracted an average of 50-80 participants, including API members, residents from ZMCH, DNB trainees from CHA, medical officers from corporate hospitals, and specialists from other medical fields. Expert speakers/educators from within and outside the state are invited to deliver on the sessions.
Conferences Organised
The chapter successfully organised the 2nd NEDSCON (Virtual) on 25 September 2021 and the 1st MIZAPICON 2023 in March 2024.
Meetings Held
To ensure smooth functioning and transparent governance, the chapter conducted 1 General Body Meeting, 4 Executive Committee Meetings, and 2 Office Bearer Meetings. An impressive 92% of agenda items were accomplished, including the landmark achievement of formally establishing the API Mizoram State Chapter.
